Convention:Commutative unital rings

Unless otherwise stated, the word ring means commutative unital ring on this wiki. This is to avoid extra verbiage every time. Thus, when I say Noetherian ring I mean a commutative Noetherian ring.

The noncommutative versions of these ideas, wherever they exist, can usually be found on the Noncommutative Wiki. For a number of pages, there is a link on the top of the page to the corresponding page on the Noncommutative wiki. Pages in that wiki are structured differently, and are more designed to the noncommutative setting.
